24 Feb Nils Liedholm’s heirs choose Donato Lanati as Oenologist for Villa Boemia
Donato Lanati, a champion of the sector, is the first purchase of the new managers of the Lidlholm wineries, in Cuccaro. He will be the winemaker of the Monte Ferrato company, which is settling in Villa Boemia to continue the winemaking activity started by Baron Nils and successfully continued by his son Carlo. Lanati’s name was made official yesterday by the group’s CEO, Fabienne Moretta, who met with the mayor Fabio Bellinaso in Alessandria.
The Monte Ferrato management illustrated objectives and strategies to the administrators of Cuccaro (the deputy mayor Aldo Gilardi was also present), revealing some background information: a very long and complex negotiation, the first contact dates back to August 2014. The Italian-Chinese multinational wanted to enter the winemaking world, so Monte Ferrato was set up ad hoc. But to acquire a company of that type, they needed an agricultural entrepreneur in the company, who was included. Then we had to deal with other complex procedures, evaluations were made and the Lidholm brand had an impact on the positive conclusion of the deal. Italian entrepreneurs in fact convinced the Asian partner (he is from Hong Kong but the name remains top secret like that of the other industrialists involved, ed.) to focus on that and not on other Estates even at the cost of delaying the acquisition by a few months.
In the name of continuity, the new owners insisted on the Italian nature of the project, because no Chinese will sit at Villa Boemia because the reference market will remain the same as the Liedholm family, i.e. Sweden and the United States, in addition to Italy of course. Arguments that convinced the Municipality of Cuccaro. The choice of Lanati is a source of satisfaction for us, because it ties the production activity of Villa Boemia even more to the territory, commented Mayor Bellinaso. Molte Ferrato has also confirmed its commitment to host future editions of the Liedholm Award, which is held every October in the cellars of the estate that has seen prestigious figures such as Ancelotti, Del Bosque, Platini and Maldini parade in Cuccaro to celebrate the world of football.
See you in October with another big name.
